“Busy” doesn’t mean “productive.”

“If a man knows not to which port he sails, no wind is favorable.” - Seneca

It’s easy to catch ourselves on auto-pilot, moving through the motions of the day without a second thought as to what we’re doing or why. We wake, phone, and coffee the same way every morning. Then it’s work, wash, feed, clean, and repeat for the rest of the day.

Living this way, on auto-pilot and without intention, is the best way to wake up years from now with the realization that we’ve made no progress on anything we find meaningful. We spent our days feeling busy but accomplishing little.

In his quote, Seneca tells us that we can't work toward a goal without first knowing what it is. We have to take aim and plot the course or we won't reach the destination. This is why personal goal-setting is so important (and why I've dedicated my first blog to helping you get started).

What's your aim, your goal? And how will you get there?
